Talk:Herbalism

From Mabinogi World Wiki

at the moment since white herbs arent out herbalism is capped at rank C

This is no longer true--Jacobpaige 00:54, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Skill Obtaining

When I was on my giant, all i had to do to get the skill was talk to Kirine about skills and i got herbalism. I didn't even do a healers part time job.. Is it diffrent for elf and giant? Might want to add that to the page..--Aussie♣

If you read it all the way, it is on the page. ;) - Random

Transposition?

As far as I can tell the skill bonus descriptors for rank E and B are switched regarding which herb type can be picked at their respective ranks. Rank E - White herbs when it should be Mana (blue) herbs. Rank B - Sunlight herbs should read White (since you can finally pick them at this Rank)

On a somewhat related note, at rank 6 Herbalism I can identify Antidote Herbs (and easily pick them) even though the skill says this shouldn't be the case until rank 5. --Naiya 06:09, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
And to add to this, it appears that at rank 2 I can identify Mandrakes. o.O --Naiya 09:08, 24 November 2008 (UTC)
Identify (your perspective of it) does not mean easy gathering. Least from my experience from having rank 1 --Aubog007 14:02, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Herb Patches

The description says that there are herb patches located outside of dungeons and then lists base herb locations, does this mean that only base herbs are located outside of dungeons? or that the other herbs' locations just haven't been listed yet?--Jacobpaige 00:54, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Probably. --Kevin 01:07, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
Only base herbs can be found in the outdoors locations. The article even says so, if you read it again ... ---Angevon
You just changed it to say that :P --Jacobpaige 08:28, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
You can go through the page's history and see that it was there beforehand, by the way. http://wiki.mabinogiworld.com/index.php?title=Herbalism&diff=21463&oldid=19361 ---Angevon
I've met someone with rank B herbalism who swears he can pick bloody herbs in the feild, can someone verify?--Jacobpaige 05:42, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
99% chance it's ignorance or bragging, probably both. I have rank 1 herbalism and all I ever see outside is base herbs. --Naiya 05:51, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Thank you, I'll ask for an actual location next time so that it can be 100% verified.--Jacobpaige 06:28, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
At Angevon, sorry, I must have misread it when I checked the history the first time.--Jacobpaige 06:28, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
You CAN pick herbs in the field i found red herbs in the physis tunnels using exploration o.0 (where there was a clearing with milipedes and ant lions)

things i found using exploration:

  • red herbs
  • orange herbs
  • blue herbs
  • ore

im assuming you can find all the types of herbs and ore using exploration in the physis and connous tunnels

You can find these herbs and ores in the field only in Solea Caverns (between Physis and Rano) or Ant Hell (in Connous). Other than that, in Uladh, only Base Herbs appear in the field.--Demaetri 01:00, 20 August 2009 (UTC)

Identification

What does this mean when it says you can identify mana herbs and whatnot? I mean, we all know blue herbs=mana herbs, so how does it affect gameplay?

Two things happen. One, instead of "[color] Herb" over a herb patch, it will say the correct name of the herb, and two, that particular type of herb will be signifigantly easier to pick (something like 30-50% more likely to succeed at picking it). --Naiya 22:11, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Purpose?

Is there any benefit whatsoever to ranking Herbalism other than decreased picking time and some minor stat boosts? Lhazzal 10:39, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Success rate goes up too. ---Angevon 15:10, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
I dunno about you, but I consider both the decreased picking time and stat boosts pretty good benefits...what more were you expecting? >_> Anyway like Angevon said, success rate goes up too especially at the ranks where you "identify" a particular herb.--Qaccy 16:11, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Also goes well with Potion Making skill. ---Angevon 16:15, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Kinda late, but Spike Enchant gives 10 Dex if you have this at r9.--Mabiwar 03:41, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Herb Locations

Wouldn't it be best to mention the most common location of a herb? For instance, Rabbie seems to have mostly bloody herbs (as it usually is, 2 base herbs:1 other herb, being the other herb), compared to Ciar's fairly balanced and (from what I know) Fiodh's m mostly mana/sunlight?Novaix 22:47, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Yeah sure. ---Angevon (Talk) 23:08, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Rank C...Sunlight?

I was able to recognize Sunlight herbs at rank C. Not sure if the data on Rank C was somehow misinterpreted? Either way, I have proof: Rankcsunlight.jpg--Price 11:04, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

It is because of your mods. If you played legit you would see "Yellow Herb" Nandattebayo 05:04, 12 January 2010 (UTC)

Or maybe its a bug in the game? I ran across these in Fiodh Int for 2

Definitely something wrong. I can see "Mana Herb" and I'm only rank A. Is anyone else experiencing this? Nandattebayo 22:25, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Mandrakes

While running Ciar basic, my friend managed to pick mandrakes at rank E. Are we SURE the rank A info is correct? --Sephy 00:35, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

"The chance of picking a herb from a herb patch is also affected by Production Mastery, so theoretically it is possible to pick any herb even without the skill if you persist enough." Its on the first page. Kendoza 11:24, 15 December 2010 (PST)

Gathering speed party bonus

Was in a party with some strangers today and noticed when we came to an herb patch that everyone seemed to be gathering really fast.

I don't think it's mentioned in the article, but is this an effect, or am I just crazy? Domirade [Tarlach] 11:28, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Sometimes I get more herbs.

I notice that when I am on my homestead picking herbs I will occasionally hit a sweet spot where I get eight herbs instead of the usual five. I have no props beside my plants (if I did then I'd get six normally or when I'm in the sweet spot I'll get nine.) Can anyone explain to me why this happens? I thought it might be something to do with the time of day but I've gotten eight herbs at different times as well as on friends homesteads. I really can't explain it and I can't find any information on it either. Thanks

'When entering a homestead, hidden Weather effects may be present. These provide a bonus to production skill success rate and may cause homestead herb patches to yield more herbs.'

New herb stack size

Felt like life training for the event and see the stack size for herbs has now increased to 20. Did that change during the latest update too?

Dilys stuck on counterattack skill chat

done 12 dailies for dilys, skill keyword just gives "did you find melee counterattack useful?" bugged? maybe it has to be manus - Six

Sixletters (talk)00:07, 8 June 2013

also, dilys is no longer on the "how to obtain" for unlearned skill info

maybe they removed her ability to give it, wiki is giving misleading info

Sixletters (talk)00:12, 8 June 2013

I think it got removed. I learned mine through Dilys a long time ago. like around G7.

I did it last in G13.

Homestead Herb Gathering.

The Message "You have crushed a delicate herb" doesn't actually subtract from the amount of herbs gatherable from that patch. Not the most important note but felt like mentioning it.

Goldspinner199216:33, 6 July 2012

"You have crushed a delicate herb" initially translates to "You failed at gathering. Please try again."

Identifying Antidote Herbs

I was running around Solea and I uncovered Antidote and Poison Herbs. I'm rank 7 Herbalism so I shouldn't be able to recognize Antidote herbs, but it said "Antidote Herb" instead of "Ivory Herb", although Poison Herbs were still called "Violet Herbs".

Could the rebalancing of Herbalism have lowered the rank required to identify Antidote herbs?--Iyasenu 14:48, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Field Images

Personally, I don't think that the Field Images are really necessary for the herbs table, really it just ends up cluttering the table and making it look like a mess, but I'd like to hear the opinions of others instead of randomly deciding to remove it just because I don't like it. If it's really necessary, we could always add in a new Color category with all the different herb colors, it'll have the same effect and have table look nicer as well.
