The childhood of Tarlach wasn't revealed much in mainstream storyline. He lost his older sister at young age; she was murdered by Fomors (he says so in the G1 Mainstream). Ever since this incident, Tarlach indulges himself in studies to search for the eternal paradise: Tir Na Nog (TNN), a spiritual plane of existence where immortality and eternal happiness exist. He decided to become a druid at some point, working as a pupil of Mores.
His sister isn't known very well, as he only mentioned it in the 1st RP of Generation 1. Also a woman is seen engraved on Tarlach's Locket, whom is believed to be his sister according to Stewart.
After his master's disappearance followed by the end of second great war, he traveled together with Ruairi. In Tir Chonaill, they met a local school girl Mari on her way to Alby Dungeon as a school assignment.
The group went to TNN after Ruairi had a dream where the Goddess Morrighan called for him to come to TNN and rescue her. However, they failed. Tarlach woke to find himself separated from his friends while the succubus Kristell was tending to him. They were all believed to be dead, but Tarlach is currently in the Altar of Druids and takes the appearance of a bear in the daytime (6:00 am to 6:00 pm).
It was shown in Generation 1: Advent of the Goddess that when Kristell was a succubus, she fell in love with Tarlach, and she still loves him even now. In the Rabbie RP dungeon Tarlach also said that he loved Kristell, but did not admit it bluntly like she did.
Tarlach plays a very minor part in Generation 2: Paladin. You are to trade him a keyword you got from Morrighan to obtain another keyword.
In Generation 3: Dark Knight, he researches the Goddess of Destruction & Chaos: Macha. The player is then asked to gather info from all of Emain Macha's residents.
After several long days, he finally discovers that his friends Mari and Ruairi are still alive, and discovers that Mari is actually Nao and Ruairi is a Dark Knight. Afterwhile, he wishes to see Mari again, so the player is then asked to formulate some sort of powder. While he re-meets Mari, she tells him about the race of Milletians, as he jotts it down in a book, which is then given away to a certain NPC.
His appearance in Baol Final convinced Ruairi that Cichol is just using him for his own purpose. Shortly, Tarlach uses "All Mana of Erinn" to defend himself from Cichol's rancid attacks, which are then intercepted by Ruairi.
