Overview

  • Magical Music allows the user to bestow various effects upon fellow party members or on surrounding enemies by performing music using special scrolls.
  • The buffs will not stack.
    • However, two players in Party Performance playing Magical Music simultaneously can both affect the party, as long as the effects are of different categories, ie. Stat Boost, Heal, or Special. Otherwise, one will overpower another, randomly chosen.
      • As of the start of G9, Magic Music of the same category can stack.
  • If the musician starts a song which boosts another attribute, it will automatically cancel the previous buff casted by the player.
  • Summoned pets will not be affected by the musical effects.
    • However, if a player is logged in as a pet, they will receive the effects.
  • Effects from Magical Music occur 10 seconds after the song is started and will continue to occur every 10 seconds after that.
    • As of the start of G10, the time between each of the effects of the Advance Magic Musics like Berserker, Sharp Aiming, and Fast Casting have been removed. So after the first 10 seconds played from the scroll it will produce continuous effect for as long as the scroll duration. Though this does not apply to the lesser Magic Musics like Healing, and Status Buffing.
  • There are chances of failure to perform Magical Music. In this case, simply start the song over.
  • There is a range limit of about the length of one dungeon room for Magical Music to affect party members.
  • There is no needed length to make Magic Music
    • This means a Full Music Score Scroll, One note and Empty scrolls can all have magic music.
    • However, to feel the effects of Magical Music at all you need a score scroll that lasts for 10 seconds or longer.
      • Since the effects pulse every 10 seconds, longer scores get more effects per use. For example, if you make an MP Recovery magical score, assuming you get only +1 MP at the time you play it, and assuming the score is 239 seconds long, you will get 23 MP restored over the duration of the song. If it was one second longer, you would have gotten 24 MP instead.
        • To get maximum length, it is recommended to use t32l1.rrrrrr ... with as many r's as you can compose into the melody. (t32 is the slowest tempo, l1. is the longest default note length, and r's are used as they are "rests" so the music is silent, allowing the scroll to just have magical effects without any sound.)

Composing Requirements

  • Creating magical scrolls requires the user to have Musical Knowledge of at least rank 9 and Composing of at least rank 9.
  • After reaching that requirement, scrolls composed by the player will have a chance to have random magical effects attributed to them.
  • Not all scrolls composed will have magical effects. Rank has no bearing on scrolls produced; the player just needs to pass the minimum requirements in order to produce magical scrolls.

Types of Effects

Magical Music effects can be categorized into three distinct groups.

Status Boosts

  • Scrolls will give boosts to either Str, Dex, Int, Will, or Luck.
  • The status boost is of a random numerical amount each time the scroll is used; however, the upper limits will increase based on the player's rank of Playing Instrument.
  • The boost dissipates very quickly if not being continuously renewed by the song.
  • Although the maximum status increase due to music is high, reaching that amount is rare (i.e. At rank 4 Playing Instrument, it is not normal to initiate a status increase above 7).

Healing Music

  • When active, will heal either Life, Mana, or Stamina at a set rate for all party members.
    • As with other magical music, the healing occurs at the listed rate once every 10 seconds while playing the song.
  • Maximum healing rates will increase based on the character's rank of Playing Instrument.

Special Status Effects

Peaceful Music

  • If successful, cancels aggressiveness on active monsters.
  • A failure will cause all the neutral and enemy units within a set range to become aggressive.
    • But will lose aggro if you mount a pet
  • Animals with aggro AI, like dogs, will also attack if the song fails.
  • The aggressiveness of the monsters only applies to members of your party.
  • When the scroll is used, the effect will apply once, 10 seconds after the start of the scroll.
  • A scroll with this effect will be labeled "Music of Peace."

Berserker

  • Gives Outraged status.
  • Makes anyone affected by the status unable to use the Defense skill.
  • Causes all party members to exhibit 100% of Heavy Stander, Mana Reflector, and Natural Shield. In essence, they cannot be knocked down by any attack except Smash, Magnum Shot, Firebolt and One-Handed Final Hit.
  • Does not reduce damage from attacks received.
  • Lasts for the duration of the song but is reapplied to party members within range every 10 seconds.
  • Failure will cause all party members to go into Weakness status, which will cause all attacks to appear as if they were afflicted onto an opponent with Berserk. Simply put, the monster will exhibit 100% of Heavy Stander, Mana Reflector, and Natural Shield. However, monsters can still be knocked down with skills such as Smash, Magnum Shot, Firebolt, and Final Hit while wielding a single weapon.

Fast Casting

  • Reduces casting speed of magic spells to 70% of the original cast time.
  • A scroll with this effect will be labeled "Magic Summon Speed +"

Sharp Aiming

  • Increases aiming speed of ranged attacks by 120%.
  • Only works on stationary targets.
  • A scroll with this effect will be labeled "Max Accuracy +"
