Description

Combo Mastery.png Defeat enemies by attacking relentlessly. Increases the damage of chain skills and reduces cooldowns. At higher ranks, allows you to use stage 3 chain skills with reduced damage when wearing heavy armor.

Details

This Gauge shows Stage 2 Chain-Skills ready to be used.
This Gauge shows Stage 3 Chain-Skills ready to be used.
As the gauge turns reds and depletes, you must hurry to load one of the skills before losing the chain.
  • Passively increases damage done by Chain Attacks.
  • Most Fighter Skills can be linked together to create devastating combos.
  • After using a chain skill, F1 or F2 must be pressed to execute the next level chain.
    • Spinning Uppercut and Drop Kick fall under the F1 command while Somersault Kick and Pummel goes under F2.
      • Currently it is not possible to change the command input.
    • Any Hotkeys may be used for the following chain skill.
  • Second level and third level chains cannot be used before the previous level chain or at the start of the combo (i.e. it is not possible to use Spinning Uppercut before first level chain).
  • After using a first or second level chain-skill, a 'Limit Gauge' will appear, indicating the availability of second or third level chain-skills.
    • The player may use the same level chain-skills to be used one after the other. This applies to all the first and second level chain-skills only.
      • However, the 'limit gauge' will reset which will still allow the next level of chain-skills to be used.
    • Once any of the third level chain-skills are used the 'chain' of attacks will end.
      • If the limit gauge still has not ran out and a target is in sight, it is still possible to use the last chain of attacks.
    • Once the limit gauge on any of the chain skills has expired the 'chain' of attacks will end.
      • There is a 7 second interval for second level chain-skills and a 5 second interval for third level chain-skills.
      • The chain will also end if the limit gauge runs out during a second level chain-skill's animation.
    • All of the Second and Third level chain-skills depend on the Limit Gauge.
  • The limit gauge will be removed if the player presses the Esc button between chain skills.
  • Changing weapons other than Bare Hands will also cancel the limit gauge.
    • Swapping weapons via Extra Equipment Slots will not cancel the limit gauge.
      • You can use skills with other weapons and still continue the next combo skill in the chain if the limit gauge has not expired yet, as long as all weapon switching is done through the Extra Equipment Slots.
  • The limit gauge will not activate if a first level chain is blocked by an enemy skill (i.e. Defense, Counterattack, Windmill-Counter) or fails to execute for any reason (i.e. Lag).
  • If a second level chain is blocked by an enemy skill, its cooldown is not invoked and does not cancel the limit gauge.
  • Third level chains cannot be used with Heavy Armor until Rank 9 or higher, which instead decreases its damage.
    • This does not apply to Giants, however.
  • Rank 5 and higher decreases the cooldown of Chain Skills.
    • For Giants, this starts at Rank B.

Rewarded for clearing Generation 12: Return of the Hero and speaking to Blaanid during Clear Storyline Chapter 3 in the Fourth Memoir.

  • The skill will have training requirements up to Rank 9 completed.

Other Methods

Training Method

  • All training requirements do not need to hit the target; they only need to be used.
  • All training requirements count for PvP.

Tips

  • Although not Combat Power-based, Combo Mastery can be rather long to train; hundreds, even thousands of attacks per method are required per rank, even at the lower ranks.
  • Interestingly, Ranks 8 through 6 and Ranks 5 through 1 all have the same training requirements.
  • An easy way to train this skill is to enter Provocation and use chain skills on the Barrier Spikes. However, be aware that Focused Fist and Pummel cannot be used on them.
  • Another method is to use chain skills on Frail Green Kiwi, which have enough Protection to take a full chain, including the extra hits of Pummel.
