Category:Ineffective Weapons

This category is for items that can be equipped on the right hand as weapons but are ineffective as such. If applicable, the item need only be an ineffective weapon in its base item grade version.

• They may still be used for fighting but are less effective than using your bare hands.
• They cannot be dual wielded or become spirit weapons.
• Some of these items can have higher item grade versions (from upgrading, dropped by monsters or obtained by some other method) which are not ineffective weapons. However, at the very least, the base item grade version must be an ineffective weapon.
  • A base item grade version, of an ineffective weapon, has very low stats for combat when compared to most base item grade weapons. For a higher item grade version, any increase to these combat stats will still be low if compared to a similar increase in most higher item grade weapons.
  • Time, effort and gold can be spent on upgrading (if possible) an ineffective weapon to create an effective one. However, better results can be obtained by upgrading most base item grade weapons.
• When used to target an enemy for combat, ineffective weapons cause on-screen warning messages to appear.
  • The warnings are based on the items max attack. If the max attack is 8 or higher no warning will appear.
    • Therefor higher grade or upgraded ineffective weapons will have no warning.
  • The warnings will not appear if a non-targeting combat skill is used, for example, when using Windmill.
  • Using a base item grade Gathering Knife as an example, if it is used to target an enemy for combat, then one of the following on-screen messages will appear;
    • The attack rate of the Gathering Knife is even lower than fighting with your bare hands!
    • Fighting with bare hands would be better than with the Gathering Knife.
    • Gathering Knife is useless as a weapon. Bare hands would be better.
    • Better to fight with bare hands rather than with Gathering Knife.
    • Note that some higher item grade, or upgraded, versions of a Gathering Knife do not produce these warnings.
